Intensified Cameras
For scalar laser imaging in gas flows in most cases intensified cameras are used. Image intensifiers amplify weak light signals up to single photon sensitivity, can detect UV-light and offer fast gating for short exposure times down to 3 ns. Different types of intensifiers and intensified cameras are offered:
lens-coupled intensifiers (IROs)
lens-coupled intensified cameras
fiber-coupled intensified cameras
LaVision’s IRO lens-coupled image intensifiers allow easy upgrade of all kind of cameras for intensified imaging performance when needed. LaVision’s DaVissoftware controls the intensifier settings for gate, gain and delay via our universal IRO controller.
For high-speed imaging with maximum sensitivity the High-Speed IRO intensifier (HS-IRO) is attached in front of a CMOS high-speed camera. Lens coupling between intensifier and camera allows this modular upgrade with highest sensitivity and maximum image quality. The HS-IROs feature multi-stage amplification to override gain depletion in its micro-channel plate at higher frame rates.

intensifier can be easily removed from camera when not needed
5 ns minimum exposure time

IRO operation (gate, gain, delay) under DaVis software control
LaVision’s NanoStar cameras couple optically a 25 mm high resolution image intensifier with an outstanding high efficiency tandem lens system to a 16 bit 4 Mpixel sCMOS sensor. Camera Link HS, the latest standard of high performance data interfaces for scientific cameras, guarantees uncompressed and robust 16-bit data transfer of 104 full frames per second via optical fiber over virtually any distance.

Princeton Instruments PI-MAX4® ICCD camera systems are featuring a 1024 x 1024 interline CCD sensor fiber optically coupled to a variety of intensifiers covering the spectral range from UV to NIR. Fiber coupling with highest throughput is realized without vignetting. GigE interface supports fast data transfer over distances up to 50 meters.

For UV-imaging applications with exposure times down to 1 μs LaVision is offering the compact Imager UV camera. The camera has extraordinary high quantum efficiency in the ultraviolet part of the spectrum and can be used without an intensifier for UV applications.
